Domestic & International Pet Travel

Traveling with your pet can be exciting, but the paperwork, timelines, and country-specific requirements can quickly become overwhelming. At Central Veterinary Hospital, we help make the process easier by guiding you through the veterinary requirements for both domestic and international pet travel.

Our team provides the services needed to prepare your pet for travel, including Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (CVIs), international health certificates, required vaccinations, laboratory testing, and other travel-related veterinary documentation. Whether your pet is flying within the United States or relocating overseas, we are here to help you navigate the process.

What We Offer

We assist with pet travel preparation for both dogs and cats, including:

  • Domestic health certificates / Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (CVIs)
  • International health certificates
  • Required vaccinations based on destination
  • Destination-specific laboratory testing
  • Microchip verification when required
  • Pre-travel examinations
  • Guidance on timing and required documentation
  • Coordination of health paperwork needed for travel
Domestic Pet Travel

If your pet is traveling within the United States, some airlines, states, and situations may require a health certificate or proof of current vaccinations. We can help determine what is needed and complete the required exam and documentation for your trip.

International Pet Travel

International pet travel often involves strict timelines and country-specific requirements. Depending on the destination, your pet may need:

  • A current rabies vaccine
  • Additional vaccinations
  • Specific lab testing
  • Microchip identification
  • An international health certificate
  • Additional paperwork based on import regulations
Important to Know

International travel requirements vary by country and may change based on destination rules, airline policies, and travel dates. Some destinations require weeks or even months of advance planning, so we strongly encourage clients to begin the process as early as possible.

Because many travel documents have strict timing requirements, delays in scheduling can impact your pet’s ability to travel as planned.

When to Contact Us

Please reach out as soon as you know your pet will be traveling. Early planning gives us the best opportunity to complete all exams, vaccines, testing, and paperwork within the required timeframe.

Central Veterinary Hospital is proud to serve Knoxville and the surrounding communities with compassionate, comprehensive veterinary care. Our goal is to help make pet travel preparation as smooth and stress-free as possible while ensuring your pet receives the care and documentation needed for travel.
